Should I add a rank system? Or do you like it the way it is?

Ranks?!? *ptoooy* We don't need no stinkin' ranks.
Really. In my opinion (which is still highly regarded in many saloons and houses of ill-repute) since this is an internet forum, and is mainly for discussion a ranking system would be hard to have integrity.
For instance. I may *talk* alot of shit...but do I follow ANY of it up with action. You as the moderator don't really know, do you? So I'm NOT for any ranking system on a forum exchange.
Now...if my credentials in other established schools would count for anything that may be *exchanged* for merit points or "equivelancy" but how do you know that my school isn't one of those black-belt factories in which you pay your tuition for class for 18 months and you automatically get your black belt?
So no...I'm not for any ranking system here...

Thank you your opinion has been noted and thank you for you rapid response. Also the rank system I'm thinking wouldn't be as hard as you might think to implement.

This seems odd. Grail, don't you believe that ranks just separate people? Why would you ,then, want to introduce them? On the other hand, Chinagrrrl's comment seems to be directed towards martial arts & belt ranking. At least, thats how it sounds. - Seti

Yes I am normally against ranks but these ranks are designed to allow the person to choose what part of themselves they wise to follow, if you wish to see what I have then drop me a line. All I have is a prototype version that I'm willing to share, I'm waiting to hear from Anubium first before I finalise anything. Also this change if approved will lead into the next step in my overhaul of the site, which includes a lot more lessons and training. All designed with the different groups and their ranks in mind.
I've worked hard to make what I deem a very fair rank system but I'll improvise what I have to fit the current system if needed.

Ranks mean little. People rank themselves perhaps by the intellect and wit they display here to others of lesser said abilities...but that would be as far as I see valid. Like was said, there is no common practice we all follow, no sparring we ahve done to test one another. For all any of us know, we are the only one truly advancing and everyone else is full of it.
The only rank system that could possible be implemented online to any effect would be the one I did finally get back to Grail on. How closely he chooses to adhere is his choice but the basics are that it classifies individuals into one of three clans. The individuals' knowledge in their respective clan would have to be acknowledged by an Admin or equivalent. Each clan is a persuit of knowledge, strength, or the Force as their specialty (not their sole persuit). "High Ranking" would imply that they are a somewhat viable source for questions in that path at the least for less experienced members.

I've extended into four orders but kept the main structure the same, there are your three and the fourth is for those who wish to cover all the bases.
