Hello to you all. I discovered this community after joining Ashlaknights.net. This is my same basic intro there but I've added to it.
I hope to gain wisdom from these and broaden my thinking here. I also hope to one day add to the knowledge and wisdom here.
A little about me:
I have lived my life as close to the Jedi way as possible. I now walk the shadows protecting those that are closest to me , trying to find and maintain a balance. I see both sides of the Force; both light and dark. I believe true understanding can only be gained by having knowledge of both sides. Light and dark constantly clash, I believe peace can only come by finding balance on the fine line where the two meet; the battle ground of the shadows.
(Sorry, sometimes I get a little philosophical)
I used to joke that everything important I ever need to know I learned from Star Wars (especially Yoda). Then I realized one day that I was not joking.
I believe in the Force. I teach karate and try to subtly instill these lessons and values in my students. I see a correlation to the teachings of Asian philosophy and martial arts and the teachings of the Jedi.
I now have a new son and I hope to instill the wisdom I have learned from the lessons of star wars in him, so that he might one day say "I am a Jedi like my father before me."
I like your commitment statement and although I'm not normally one to sign things I will this because it is true to my feelings.
On this day and date, January 30th, 2007, I, Jedi_Assassin choose to follow the path of the Sith Shadows, to find it in myself with all my heart as it is from me my path comes, to serve it and uphold its basic rules, that I myself may be counted among the faithful and true.
I recognize the Force as being the thread of Light & Dark that ties together every major religion, philosophy, and meditative path. My quest is for illumination into myself, and my service is to the Force, the good & the bad, of which everything comprises and which I fully embrace, uphold, serve and defend.
My path is not for personal gain, but for the will of the Force, of which I am a part. The path of a Sith Shadow is not a path of egotism, but through surrender to the Force, I in turn become strong with it.
Balance of the Force does includes attempts to simultaneously serve good and evil. I renounce my allegiance to the Dark Side & the Light Side and embrace it as it is only the Jedi & Sith pull it apart. I obey the laws of the land. If I disagree with any of them, I can therefore choose to enact means to change them through gaining public support and through any other route - never through outright olience violence unless it is the only way or breaking laws because I choose to only when I must as the law is wrong. Helping others to support a mindset of this kind breaks the code of conduct, and is grounds for termination and banishment from our clan.
I will never use what I have learned through the Sith Shadows to do others bidding unless it I another Sith Shadow’s. If I am forced to defend myself, I shall, yet I acknowledge that the way of the Force is to defend & to attack but not to kill needlessly. Altercations and violent misuse of the Force that compromise the rules of this code can be contested in conference with the Council of Thirteen, but it will be the final decision of the Council of Thirteen as to any formal reprimand and/or banishment. I will never use the skills and knowledge of the Sith Shadows to later serve the spilt force. This betrayal of confidence shall insure banishment and the stripping of any title, rank or recognition. It is the highest form of dishonour.
I recognize and accept that a true Sith Shadow will always strive to exercise tolerance and discourage fanaticism. I accept that social bigotry is a form of fanaticism - fanaticism is born of fear, "fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, and hate leads to suffering." Although I do not necessarily condon or condemn other religions or diverse lifestyles, I do hereby renounce bigotry and fanaticism, which I recognize is based on hate. I abhor terrorism, hate crimes, the violation of women, murder, and robbery. I agree that murder is the highest crime. I choose to serve the pure force - not the Light Side or the side of the Darkness which promote such in the mind and heart of the perpetrators who do such heinous and cowardly acts.
The Ways of the Force are truthfulness, compassion, honour, humility, courage, and loyalty to the cause. I choose this path and serve it with all my heart, mind and soul. My allegiance is to the Sith Shadows.
If recommended by the Council of Thirteen, I will submit to a teacher which the Council endorses to learn of the Ways of the Force, to become a Sith Shadow paladin and uphold the rules of my clan. I understand that it is my right to challenge the rules of the Sith Shadow’s if I disagree with the rule but the final say is the Council of Thirteen’s & that if a rule is omitted the code, no amount of campaigning can get it added once more.
